Paul Thiel – Chairman

Paul Thiel joined CRT after serving as CEO of TruCost Inc., an information services provider in the hospitality industry based in Sorrento Valley, and two media companies in Orange County, McClain Publishing Co. and Freedom Interactive Inc. He holds an MBA from the University of Virginia, a BA from the University of Connecticut, and completed executive programs at Stanford Business School and Northwestern University. He is currently the regional managing director for BNY Mellon. Thiel started his career as a financial journalist, writing for The Washington Post, the New York Times and the Florida Times-Union.

Jason Kruger - Chief Financial Officer

Jason is President of CRT Sponsor, Signature Analytics, an outsourced accounting firm providing ongoing accounting support and financial analysis to small and mid-size businesses. Our team of highly experienced accountants will act as your entire accounting department (CFO to staff accountant), or complement your internal accounting staff, to provide the ongoing accounting support necessary to effectively run your company, analyze operations, and guide business decisions.

Andy Fichthorn – Vice Chair, Client Acquisition

Andy Fichthorn is the former President of SeaWorld San Diego and SeaWorld San Antonio, and currently serves on several private and non-profit boards in addition to serving as a Chairmen’s Roundtable Mentor.  Prior to SeaWorld, Andy was in strategic planning / M&A with Anheuser-Busch, leading a variety of domestic and international acquisitions, divestitures and greenfield developments in the consumer products and hospitality markets.  He began his career as a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Cory Grant – Vice Chair, Sponsor Development

Cory is Chairman & Managing Partner for CRT Sponsor, Grant, Hinkle & Jacobs.  Business Succession planning often includes more than just considering the obvious; who will run the business after the transitional event. With a comprehensive approach to the estate and retirement planning objectives of the senior group and the desires of those coming into leadership, a balanced approach that keeps the business on the right track can be developed. Interacting with senior management to really understand the culture and flow of the organization and provide advice accordingly while working closely with the team of advisors usually yields the best results.

David Kramer – Vice Chair, Marketing

Dave is the Principal for CRT Sponsor, Outsource CFO Services.  Strategic and hands-on financial executive with over 25 years of full-time experience in public and private companies with international operations. Range: start-up through mid-sized, high tech and life sciences, including over 10 years of manufacturing. Expertise in leading finance and operations during periods of both cash constraints and rapid growth. Successful in raising over $60M in equity and debt, reducing cash burn, improving profits, and coordinating collaborations. Familiar with the venture-backed environment, as well as the IPO and reverse merger processes. Board experience in private companies. Harvard MBA.

  Brett Pernicano - Vice Chair, Partner Relations

Brett Pernicano is a Portfolio Manager at Dowling & Yahnke, an independent, fee-only registered investment adviser.  Dowling & Yahnke provides comprehensive portfolio management and retirement planning services.  Located in San Diego, California, the Firm currently manages approximately $3 billion for more than 1,000 clients, primarily individuals, families, endowments, and foundations.  With over eleven years of experience, Brett has provided clients with financial guidance in areas including asset management and comprehensive financial planning.  Brett holds the designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP
®).  He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Washington with a degree in Business, emphasis in Finance.
Dave Ryan
Dave Ryan – Vice Chair, Program Development


David Ryan has been a leader in the satellite and intelligence business for over 37 years splitting his career between Boeing and TRW/Northrop Grumman.  He has been involved in the development and operations of over 65 satellite systems as well as numerous big data management and analytic programs for the aerospace & defense and other sectors. Before his retirement in June 2014, he was Sector VP & GM of the $1.3B Intelligence Systems Division for NGC and previously served as VP & GM for their Civil Space Division as well as VP of Business Development and Programs. While at Boeing, he was President of Boeing Satellite Systems International, where he led over 9,000 professionals and was responsible for leading one of the world's largest manufacturers of commercial and government satellites. Mr. Ryan has extensive knowledge in business strategy, execution and M&A activity and currently serves on the Board of Directors of two organizations. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, photography and snow skiing.

Dana Shertz
Dana Shertz – Vice Chair, Mentor Development

Dana is a Managing Partner in Motion Ventures, a sports and active lifestyle Venture Capital Fund. He also has a business consulting practice, Contineo Ventures. Previously he has served in roles as SVP of Sales & Marketing at Callaway Golf, President & COO of McGregor Golf and COO of EnDev Enterprises, a hospitality Development Company.
