Whether it’s
high-tech or hamburgers, the backgrounds of the six newest
members of The Chairmen’s RoundTable are, in a word, diverse.
Executives Martha Dennis, Anita Busquets, Larry Trammell,
Frank Creede, Rod Bolton and Jeff Campbell were all named
members of the San Diego nonprofit organization on May 30. In
their new roles, each will serve as a mentor to area small
business owners who contact The Chairmen’s RoundTable in
search of free advice and guidance.
“I commend each of our new members for joining the CRT on
our mission to strengthen San Diego one company at a time,”
said Tom Dorosewicz, head of The Chairmen’s RoundTable. “The
addition of these six new members expands the depth of the
knowledge-base we can offer to the local companies that we
mentor. These are very successful executives with a wide
diversity of experience who recognize the CRT as an
opportunity to give back to the local business community.”
Dennis, who also currently chairs the San Diego Science and
Technology Commission, has founded several companies in the
wireless communications field, including San Diego-based
Pacific Communications Services, Inc. and WaveWare
Communications, Inc.
Busquets is experienced in the biotech sector as a start-up
executive, having worked with San Diego-based Salmedix, Inc.,
and Texas-based companies, GeneTex, Inc., NCE Pharmaceuticals,
Inc. and CTRC Research Foundation. She also serves on several
boards, including Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Imperial
counties and Project Wildlife.
Trammel, whose background is in the aerospace and
government services industry, also serves on several boards,
including Tech Flow, a San Diego-based IT company. Until last
year, he headed the Technology Services Company of San
Diego-based Science Applications International Corp. While
serving as general manager of the company, from 1989 to 2005,
Trammel oversaw the business’ growth, which grew to more than
$4 billion in revenues.
Creede is the current chief technology officer of Pacific
DataVision, Inc., a wireless technology company started in San
Diego some 10 years ago that has since been acquired by a New
Jersey-based firm. Although its headquarters are on the East
Coast, the company continues some operations in San Diego. In
addition to Pacific DataVision, Creede is an active investor
as a board member of San Diego Tech Coast Angels.
Bolton’s experience is rooted in the electronics sector
with stints as president of the San Diego-based Teal Corp. and
the formerly Poway-based company of APW Electronics, which is
now based in Wisconsin. He also previously served regionally,
on the board of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce and
nationally, on the board of the American Electronics
Association.
The last of the six new RoundTable members is Campbell, who
is a former chief executive officer for Burger King and
ex-chairman of the Pillsbury Restaurant Group, which at the
time of Campbell’s departure from the company included the
Burger King, Steak and Ale, Bennigan’s and Godfather’s Pizza
restaurant chains. Last year, Campbell began teaching
part-time at San Diego State University’s hospitality and
tourism school.
